Kay Baber
Joined Telstars:   1970

Kay made her stage debut at the age of 5 when she wanted to be the Virgin Mary because she liked the costume. However, she ended up as Angel Gabriel with a very dodgy halo (sign of things to come!) She continued to act throughout her schooldays and joined a company at 16, but whilst working for BT was persuaded to join Telstars for one production when they needed a young actress, and here she's been ever since (and she's not saying how long ago that was!)

Kay has been chairperson of Telstars for some years, and over time has undertaken all aspects of production, both on and off stage. Her acting experience has involved playing everything from nuns to prostitutes, with drunken nymphomaniacs and Lady Bracknell thrown in.

She has been fortunate enough to win her fair share of awards in her time and firmly believes that one of Telstars great strengths is its teamwork, without which no-one would reap rewards. There are too many memorable moments to list them all, but going to the Florida Theatre Conference, as a member of the first non-American company to do so, has to rank among them. This coupled with the firm and enduring friendships made through the years is what keeps her coming back for more.
